1. bring down the house : make an audience clap or laugh enthusiastically

- The comedian's jokes brought down the house. The audience couldn't stop laughing.

 

2. sponge off : to take money or hospitality and never repay the favors

- She always likes to sponge off rich guys.

 

3. throw in the towel : to give up or quit

- When the candidate saw she couldn't win the election, she throw in the towel and quit the race.

 

4. potluck : a meal in which each person brings a food to eat and share with the each other

- I will have a potluck dinner tomorrow. so could you bring your favourite food ?

 

5. soap opera :  a television serial drama

- my mother like to watch a soap opera, but I don't like it.

 

6. a doormat : to don't complain when they are treated unfairly.

- she treats him like a doormat.

 

7. under the table : secretly, to pay someone in an illegal way, to avoid taxes

- I made money under the table.
